My Photo W

ith a plan for a long-term trip around Australia, I bought a Canon EOS 50E so that I could record the trip properly. To learn how to use it I signed up for a beginner's course with a local photography club. It was a great decision. The tutors convinced me to continue and enter some images in their monthly competition.

I won the annual competition in my first full year, and numerous acceptances and awards in both National and International competitions. Our trip was put on hold due to an unexpected surprise (she's now 18!) but I continued with my photography, although sometimes not as frequent as I would have liked.

I still contribute to local club competitions, I find it forces me to try things I wouldn't normally do and keeps me abreast of new techniques and how I can utilise them in my work, and they are great people to socialise with.

It has been well over a decade since I began and I've recently started to identify a 'style'   to my images. Rather subconscious but pleasing because I'm now identifying my work more as art than simply photography, a big step I didn't realise I had taken.

These pages, and I suppose the images presented on them, are a work in progress, just as I am....

I hope you enjoy them.

In the midst of a garden
Nestled high on a hill
Near the shores of a lake
Where the ranges meet the valley
Lies the hidden studio ......
