Duck feather with a water droplet in B&W. Side lit to highlight the shape of the droplet and the texture and structure of the feather.
The Capture:
Shot in the studio with a single softbox lighting the scene from the right. The feather itself was placed on a piece of dark timber to minimise distractions and ensure the background wasn't visible.
The droplet was placed very delicately on the feather, the difference with this image is that the feather is in a 'concave' position (has the arch to the top) and this makes it very difficult for the droplet to stay in position.
