6:  Still Standing

Last remaining pile from an old pier

I went to this beach purely out of curiosity on a wild and windy winter afternoon looking for pioneer ruins I had heard about. When I got there I found it was completely sheltered to both the wind and sea by the adjacent headlands and the water itself was very calm. It wasn't until I walked further down the beach this solitary old pier pile came into view. Nothing more than being in the right place at the right time got me this image. I did find the pioneer ruins as well, but I have left them for another day.
